We are excited to announce a new addition to our popular Phoenix furnace/glory hole combination for improved performance. We have partnered up with Correll Glass Studio to bring you the Recuperated Phoenix. The recuperation system was designed by Charlie Correll, who has been a leader in the design and construction of recuperated glass furnaces and glories for over 40 years.
The Recuperated Phoenix has all the great versatility of our original Phoenix, with the added benefit of the recuperated burner, which allows for dramatic fuel savings over the standard version. We have had several out in the field since mid 2022, and the feedback has been much greater than expected, with clocked usage averaging 80,000 BTU/hour!
Another great feature is the dual nozzle mix burner set-up, which allows for a very slow controlled heat up for folks melting in freestanding crucible situations.
A perfect addition to any hot shop as a back-up, or as a color melter. You can melt a single large pot of glass or try several smaller crucibles to have multiple color pots at once!* No need to commit; you can switch out with relative ease via the front door! Slower heat-up on the freestanding set-up is recommended to help prolong the life of your crucible(s).**
Though it is delivered on casters, the intent with this furnace is that it be situated in a studio and not used as a frequently transported unit. There are levelling bolts built in to stabilize the furnace once it is in position. The recuperator is tall and may not easily fit through a door or in an enclosed trailer without being disassembled.

*Important note about melting color:
We do not provide technical information about melting color. It is up to the Phoenix owner/user(s) to follow appropriate safety protocols according to your local, state, and/or federal guidelines for hazardous materials. The Phoenix owner is responsible for conducting their own research and safe operations, and for any potential infractions and their consequences that may result from the use of this or any other Phoenix furnace or related equipment. Mobile Glassblowing Studios, LLC assumes no liability for Phoenix owner and/or user's operation of equipment. |
**Important note about free standing crucibles:
Careful attention to slow heat-up and cool-down is advised to prolong the life of your crucible(s). Due to the variable nature of firing a free standing crucible, the crucibles are not covered under warranty. We recommend having a back-up crucible on hand at all times so that you can continue to work even in the event of crucible failure. As always, we recommend removing unused glass from your crucible at the end of your work session prior to cool-down.
